In the razzmatazz that characterized the hosting of the 10th Anniversary edition of Nigerian Idol by HS Studios, we caught up with a giant in the entertainment industry who bared his mind on the quality of the studio facilities.

Olisa Adibua needs no lavish introduction in the entertainment industry. One-on-one with Adibua…

HS Studios:

Welcome sir, you've been part of productions here in HS Studios in the past. This is Nigerian idol at 10 here in HS Studios. What's your take on this?

Adibua:

I think it's fantastic. I was actually involved in the very first one. I think it was about 2000 was it? Yeah. Well, you know, it took a break, there was a break, then it came back, and everything. So we were involved in the very first one, and the one that I think Timi Dakolo won, and Omawunmi came second, and everything. So it's a great franchise. I mean, globally, it's been around for more than 20 years now. And in Nigeria, to celebrate 10 years of any particular program is a great feat, you know, to keep a program running for 10 years, believe me, with the way the economy is, the way the creative sector is, it's a major achievement. And also not just for the longevity, but also for the quality of the show and the scale of the show. You know, it's a nationwide competition, and it does a lot, a lot of it makes a lot of impact and reaches out to all the corners of Nigeria. So the whole process, the whole mechanism of it, is very, very impressive. So, and I hope they keep doing it and keep getting better and our only prayer in the sector is that the corporate sector get more involved in supporting the different platforms and different products. Even though it's an international franchise, so to speak, we have actually made it our own in terms of, you know, the way it's done and the way it impacts on the people are on the show. These are real Nigerians coming from all corners, all sectors, from the grassroots. And it's like, you know, a real fairy tale story, somebody who, you know, unknown today and in two or three months time, it becomes a household name, or she becomes a household name, as the case may be. So, well done to the team behind it. Well done to Multichoice DStv. Well done to Red Pepper. And also all the entire team behind the whole show and organization, very impressive. Congratulations!

HS Studios:

You have, no doubt, been a key player in the Nigerian entertainment scene. And thank God you said you were here for the MTN Y'llow Star show where you were one of the judges. What's your impression of the studio facility?

Adibua:

HS studios, I think it's wonderful. The space is amazing. It gives you the opportunity to create your own particular theme. You know, the space it's like a  real, wide open landscape and an empty canvas. So you as the show owner, the show runners, you can design and construct the show in whatever way you desire, and it's purpose built, you don't get a lot of that, because you need all the high ceilings for the cranes and for the lights and the movements and all these require the space big enough for you to put different parts of the stage around and for the camera movement as well. So it's a brilliant space. I wish there were more of them. And I hope that the owner, my brother Taye Ige, continues to maintain it and keep it going. And I hope that more shows, more platforms will come and use it. It should be something that should be booked all year round. You know why I'm saying this because it's a great thing. And, you know, he put his money where his mouth is. He put down the investment and built the place, and now he's reaping the rewards, and I hope that more and more productions will come.
